County School Costs

County School Costs

Description

The capital cost for Hillsborough County Schools is determined using students per person (SPP) figures for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school. Also included are corresponding figures for exceptional students and adult category. The construction costs for elementary, middle, and high school categories are calculated in a separate sub-module (see Capital Costs under School District) and are linked to this sub-module. For preschool, exceptional, and adult categories, the capital cost per station was provided by the school board and was therefore not calculated separately in the model.

The annual new countywide population was applied to determine the new students for each category using students per person figures provided by the school board. The total capital cost for schools is shown in the auxiliary, annual capital cost of public schools. This also includes the annual cost of school replacement of about $242,639, shown using a flow, annualized school replacement cost.

Equations and Variables Used

  • Preschool TCC (Total Capital Costs) = Annual New Countywide Population x Preschool SPP x Preschool CCS

  • Elementary Preschool TCC = Annual New Countywide Population x Elementary SPP x Elementary School Costs per Student

  • Middle TCC = Annual New Countywide Population x Middle SPP x Middle School Costs per Student

  • High TCC = Annual New Countywide Population x High SPP x High School Costs per Student

  • Exceptional TCC = Annual New Countywide Population x Exceptional SPP x Exceptional CCS

  • Adult TCC = Annual New Countywide Population x Adult SPP x Adult CCS x Percent Based on Growth

  • Annual Capital Cost of Public Schools = Preschool TCC + Elementary TCC + Middle TCC + High TCC + Exceptional TCC + Adult TCC + Cumulative Annualized School Replacement Cost / 1<<yr>>
